Dr Kapil Shahare

Dr (Surg Lt Cdr) Kapil Shahare, Retd completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Yavatmal and then pursued MS in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. He then served as Consultant Ophthalmologist (Graded Specialist Ophthalmology) in Various Indian Naval Hospitals in the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant Commander. He has over 12+ years of experience in Ophthalmology, including 5 years of distinguished service with the Indian Navy. He has performed 4,000+ cataract surgeries with a zero nucleus drop record over 5+ years — a benchmark of surgical precision. Dr Kapil is Fellowship-trained in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery & Ocular Oncology from LMU Klinikum, Munich, Germany and a recipient of prestigious IOFF Fellowship (International Ophthalmology Fellowship Foundation). He is also trained in Combat Trauma Life Support (CTLS) from AMC Centre and College, Lucknow.

His special areas of interest include Bladeless Trans-canalicular Laser DCR, Botox, Eyelid reconstructions, Eyelid and ocular surface cancers.

He has published his research in peer reviewed international journals and has also presented at various national and international conferences including presentations at ESCRS Congress (Athens 2016, Lisbon 2017, Amsterdam 2019) and ESOPRS, Prague 2025. He is also a post graduate teacher with experience as Associate Professor in Ophthalmology and a member of Marine Medical Society of India, AIOS and ESCRS.
