Golwalkar Guruji

Our dream project “Madhav Netralaya (Eye Institute & Research Centre) is in memory of Param Pujaniya Guruji Shri Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar, the Second Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), a seer, thinker, organizer and an everlasting source of inspiration to millions.

 

Shri Guruji, as he was endearingly addressed, was born on the 19th of February 1906, at Ramtek near Nagpur. A prodigy, he inherited the early sanskaras from his parents and was inspired for Hindu cause by Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya, in early youth as a professor of science at Banaras Hindu University. He was influenced by Dr. Hedgewar (founder of R.S.S.) to commit himself to serve the motherland and was spiritually transformed under Swami Akhandananda at Sargachi Ashram of Ramakrishna Mission. Dr. Hedgewar bequeathed him the responsibility of Sarsanghachalak of R.S.S in June 1940.

 

Guruji steered the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) for 33 years (1940-1973) with an uncompromising commitment, as its guide and philosopher electrified the work to grow rapidly even in far-off places like Assam and Kerala. He traveled untiringly through the length and breadth of the country almost a hundred times during the 33 years of his glorious tenure as Sarsanghchalak (a unique record in itself), kindling in the society the immortal flame of enduring love for the Motherland. Because of his inspiring personality at the helm, apart from the shakha network, which spread far and wide, a number of affiliates like Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and Bharatiya Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram, to name just a few, also began to sprout up one after another, as more and more co-workers, imbued with Sangh ideology and organizational skill began to translate them into respective fields of their interest.

 

Param Pujyaniya Guruji Shri Madhav Golwalkar was “A towering personality yet a soul with overflowing humility”... “Pure like fire, yet tender like a flower”... “Sharp intellect with warm affection”

 

The design for this institution is a sincere attempt to assimilate this essence of his persona, manifesting an embracing atmosphere, with a substructure of disciplined functioning. With a goal to provide high quality, unbiased and cost-effective eye care facility to anyone in need Madhav Netralaya Trust puts forth this project.
